Pageant fans in Indonesia, it is finally your time to shout "Hooray" as after a very long waiting, your wish finally comes true! The 2013 edition of the biggest and the oldest surviving international Grand Slam pageant, Miss World, is confirmed to be held in Indonesia. Even better, Indonesia will also host the 2015 edition of the pageant.
The official announcement was made on 28 April 2012, during the final of Miss Indonesia 2012 (whose winner will compete at Miss World 2012) at JI Expo Kemayoran, Jakarta. Miss World Organization Julia Morley and CEO of MNC Group Hary Tanoesoedibjo attended the ceremony and signed the contract that confirms Indonesia as the host of the event.
As explained by Hary Tanoesoedibjo, the funding of Miss World will not depend on the government. Instead, MNC Group will serve as the main sponsor of the events and will provide all the required funding. The events are also expected to serve as a good promotional way to introduce Indonesian culture, products, and tourism towards international community. About 130 countries are expected to participate. Julia Morley also made a statement in which she asked the cooperation of Indonesian people to ensure the success of both events.
