Whether it is a coincidence or not, the 1953 edition of Miss World and Miss Universe pageant is unique because both were connected by a twins effect. The first sign of this twins effect is the their winners - both came from the same country, which was France - and it marks the first time ever Miss World and Miss Universe have the same winning country in the same year.
But the more obvious sign of the twins effect perhaps comes from the Norwegian representative for both pageants that year - they were twins! Yes, you read it right ... Miss Norway World 1953 Solveig Gulbrandsen and Miss Norway Universe 1953 Synnöve Gulbrandsen are twins! So now decide by yourself ... is the twins effect is only a coincidence or it is indeed true!
Stay tuned for more Back to Past Moment news, where we will compile various memorable pageant moments and events from the past!
