- Across the Universe -
They are stars, the brightest one in each country. This summer, they will travel all along the way, across the universe, to gather in Sao Paulo where one of them will conquer the universe. As a celebration of Miss Universe pageant diamond anniversary, we dedicate this section for them. The beauties from all corners of the universe, who will fight to become the one and only, Miss Universe 2011!

Deborah Henry - MALAYSIA (26/178 cm)
Deborah Henry was born in Dublin, Ireland but grew up in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Her father is a Malaysian Indian and she is of Irish descent through her mother. Henry spent her secondary school years at Sayfol International School. She particularly excelled in basketball and volleyball at school, and won a gold medal in the Kuala Lumpur International Schools athletics meet. No wonder that she received a "Sportswoman of the Year" trophy from her school for her achievements. Henry began modeling at the age of 15 and modeled in London 3 years later for 7 months. She also appeared in Malaysian rock band Estranged's music video "Itu Kamu". In 2004 Henry moved to Brisbane, Australia to continue her study. She graduated with a B. Sc. degree in Political Science and Economics from the University of Queensland in 2007. Her focus are on human rights advocacy and sustainable development with a long term goal to eradicate poverty. She returned to Malaysia in 2007 and participated in Miss Malaysia World 2007. She won and represented her country in Miss World 2007 where she is notable for having been selected in the Top 16. Henry is also very active in various humanitarian works. She co-founded Fugee School, a non-profit charity organisation that provides basic education to close to 90 Somalian refugee children. Henry also is a World Vision’s Childs’ rights Advocate. World Vision is a Christian relief, development and advocacy organization. She also speaks for the Harper's Bazaar The Pink Project PSA 2010. Henry also became the ambassador for Yes, I Can Campaign, an educational, awareness & advocacy campaign for the prevention of unplanned and unwanted pregnancy in Malaysia.

Justine Jonckheere - BELGIUM (19/173 cm)
Born in Menen, De Jonckheere lives in Wevelgem and is an only child. She is studying law at KULAK Kortrijk University and speaks Dutch, French and English. Competed as the representative of West Flanders, she is one of 16 finalists in her country's national beauty pageant, Miss Belgium, held on 9 January 2011 in Knokke-Heist, where she became the eventual winner of the title, gaining the right to represent Belgium at both Miss Universe 2011 and Miss World 2011.

Elisa Torrini - ITALY (22/180 cm)
Elisa Torrini is an Italian model. She was crowned Miss Universe Italy 2011 on 30 June 2011 at the Piazzale del Soccorso in Forio d'Ischia. She is one of tallest Italian delegates ever in the history of the pageant. By winning the title, Elisa earned the right to represent her country at the Miss Universe 2011 pageant in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on 12 September 2011.As part of her prize package, Elisa won a week long stay in Caracas, Venezuela during the month of August to attend the prestigious Katty Pulido International Academy, where she will receive intensive training in all areas of competition to aid her preparation for the Miss Universe pageant. It is the first time an Italian representative is sent abroad to train for the international competition.

Vanessa Ceruti - CHILE (25/178 cm)
Vanessa Ceruti is a Chilean model, actress and Miss Universe Chile 2011. She was also the winner of the contest Elite Model Look Chile 2004. In 13 July 2011 she won the Miss Chile pageant for Miss Universe and will represent her country in Miss Universe 2011, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. As part of her preparation she traveled to Venezuela to have an intensive training in Katty Pulido's Agency.


Alejandra Barillas - GUATEMALA (25 / 181 cm)
Barillas initially competed at Miss Guatemala 2010 and won, earning her the right to compete at Miss Universe 2010 in Las Vegas last year. However, weeks prior to departure, she suffered a lession in her ankle which ended her dreams of participating in the international event. She was eventually replaced by her Second Runner Up, Jessica Schell. In 2011, due to a change in schedule of the Miss Guatemala pageant , the organization, headed by Alex Orellana, together with its sponsors, decided to give Barillas the chance to represent the country at the Miss Universe 2011 pageant to be held in Sao Paulo, Brazil. So in a twist of fate, Barilla was crowned Miss Guatemala again, this time by the woman she actually defeated last year, Jessica Schell.

Dagmar Kolesarova - SLOVAK REPUBLIC (20/178 cm)
A native of Revúca, Kolesárová is pursuing a bachelor's degree at the Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. Kolesárová competed as one of 13 finalists in her country's national beauty pageant, Miss Universe Slovenskej Republiky, broadcast live on 5 March 2011 from Bratislava, where she obtained the Miss Diva Award and became the eventual winner of the title, gaining the right to represent the Slovak Republic in Miss Universe 2011.

Vanessa Goncalves - VENEZUELA (24 /177cm)
Born in Baruta, Miranda, Venezuela, Gonçalves is a dentist of Portuguese ancestry as her father is from Madeira, Portugal. She is a graduate from the school of dentistry at Universidad Santa María in Caracas. Gonçalves competed as Miss Miranda, one of 28 finalists in her country's national beauty pageant Miss Venezuela 2010, held on 28 October 2010 in Maracaibo, where she obtained the Best Body and Evening Gown awards and became the seventh Miss Venezuela winner from the state of Miranda, gaining the right to represent her country in Miss Universe 2011.

Anedie Azael - HAITI (22 / 177 cm)
Azael is a professional model, student, and activist who was crowned Miss Universe Haiti 2011 held at Montana Hotel on 27 July 2011. She was raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, by her parents, Eddy and Chantale Azael, then in 2004, at the age of 16, she moved to Miami, Florida to pursue her studies. Anedie graduated from Felix Varela Senior High in 2006. In 2009, she signed with Runways The Talent Group in Miami Beach and started her career as a model. Her unique, exotic features and bubbly personality instantly caught the attention of casting scouts, photographers and stylists. Anedie currently is also the face of Alpha Communication Network (ACN) in Haiti.

Gabrielle Walcott - Trinidad & Tobago ( 27/170 cm)
Gabrielle “Gabby” Walcott is a beauty pageant titleholder who won Miss Trinidad and Tobago World 2008 and placed as the Second Runner Up in Miss World 2008, and is currently the titleholder of Miss Trinidad and Tobago Universe 2011. She is also the female lead in the 2005 music video "Wanna Love U Girl" by Robin Thicke, directed by Hype Williams, and in the 2004 “Tempted to Touch” video also produced by Hype Williams for Barbadian artist Rupee. Walcott is the oldest of her three siblings, Heidi, Joshua and Sophie Walcott. She attended St. Bernadette’s Primary School, Providence Girls' Secondary School, The University of the West Indies School of Continuing Studies, The University of the West Indies, and later pursued acting and theatre arts at HB Studios in New York City, United States. An experienced equestrian show jumper, Walcott also took up hobbies such as dance, yoga, Pilates, photography, hockey, art and has always had a passion for acting and theatre. Being an avid philanthropist, it is no surprise that she won Beauty with a Purpose award at Miss World 2008. her social project that time was
working with the Just Because Foundation dedicated to create hospitable conditions for children with cancer and helping raise $100,000 in charity for the creation of a new ward for these children.
