1 Would you please tell us about yourself and your life?
I'm down to Earth, respectful, open minded, and optimistic. I'm a student on the faculty of sports, currently on a pause due to an injury, so now I can concentrate on my modeling career.

2 Who or what is the biggest inspiration in your life?
My biggest inspiration are the people I meet everyday who have the positive attitude and can inspire you to do better.

3 If you can describe yourself in 5 words, which 5 words would you choose, and why?
Tall, I'm 189cm, so I'm quite tall.
Handsome, at least that what they say, but I believe that beauty is relative it depends who is looking. Confident, I am confident in myself and in the decisions I make.
Respectful, I always show respect to people who are respectful.
Optimistic, I'm always looking for a silver lining in everything.

4 What activities you usually love to do in your spare time?
I spend time with my friends or go for a walk with my dog Chica. My modeling agency Mister Model Management is keeping me busy, so I cherish my spare time.

5 If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I would fix my injured shoulder, he he he.

6 What makes you interested in joining beauty pageants in the first time?
I started modeling and I thought this would open a lot of doors to fashion industry and I'm glad doors are opening.

7 How did you prepare yourself before competing at Mister International 2012?
I have a really good team behind me, Mister Slovenia Organization prepared me very good for this competition. I had a good picture what I can expect on this contest. For the physical preparation, I trained once or twice a day and stayed away from junk food, but this was the easy part… Eating properly and training is something I'm used to it.

8 Out of 37 other contestants, which one was your closest friend during the Mister International 2012 days? Did you two have any special memories together?
I made friends all over the world in this contest, but I bonded the most with my roommate, mister Slovak Republic, I think the whole contest is a special and one of a kind memory.

9 Out of all the places you visited in Bangkok during the competition which one is the most memorable one for you?
I must say I enjoyed every temple we visited in Bangkok, but the one I remembered the most is Temple of Dawn or Wat Arun, just becouse we could climb the steep stairs and the view was amazing from the top.

10 What was the most exciting and the most frightening experience you had during the Mister International 2012 days?
The most frightening must be the ride with tuk tuk, they don't follow any rules so it was quite scary at times, he he he. The most exciting must be the final show, just the whole experience, I really enjoyed it.

11 Did you expect yourself to go this far at the competition?
To be honest I was aiming for the top, but all I expected from myself, is to give it my best and enjoy the whole experience.

12 What is the best lesson you learn from your participation in Mister International 2012?
If you don't want to stress yourself, you got to be patient.

13 In your own words, what quality does a Mister International should possess?
He should be confident, respectful, friendly and charismatic.

14 Now that the Mister International 2012 competition is over, what is your plan for your future?
My plans for the future are always the same, keep moving forward and enjoying the ride. But I want to go back and explore the Asian modeling market.

15 Last but not least what is your message to all your fans and supporters?
Just be yourself and be the best you can be, work hard, train hard and don’t forget to enjoy the ride.

Special thanks to Marko Sobot and Mister Slovenia Organization for giving us the chance to do this interview!

Miss Universe 2012 "Happy Holidays" Leaderboard

So we have picked the best national costume, the girl with the best body, the girl with the most beautiful face, and so on ... and it's time for the ultimate choice - the girl who will become Miss Universe 2012. After two and a half weeks of activities, we have finally made our choice for this Holiday-themed edition and here they are our Top 16 (actually 15 + 5) choices for the Final "Happy Holidays" Miss Universe 2012 Leaderboard!

The Leaderboard
1. South Africa
2. Philippines
3. Venezuela
4. Croatia
5. Puerto Rico
6. Georgia
7. Paraguay
8. Mexico
9. Australia
10. USA
11. Chile
12. Netherlands
13. New Zealand
14. Malaysia
15. Kosovo
16. Colombia / Ecuador / Indonesia / Thailand / Vietnam (tied)

She is the fave of pageant fans, experts, critics, and bloggers and all around the world. She is a mix of Victoria's Secret angel and Hollywood diva sensation. She is the supernova among the stars. And she is our Miss Universe 2012. In the middle of what should have been a very competitive year, South Africa amazingly stands alone as the one to beat. As if the Diamond Nexus crown is made for her and the rest of the contestants are just part of the fiesta. In an ideal result, this stunning girl, who also amazes us with her communication skill should be the winner of Miss Universe 2012.

Philippines was bashed and underrated when she won her national pageant. But look at her now! No one can deny that she is the best and most prepared Asian girl this year. Well it is said that most of the time charisma wins over beauty. That is certainly the case of this girl whom we expect to bring another Top 5 finish for her country.

It said that a Miss Universe final without Venezuela is like a Christmas without Santa, and this Holiday-themed ediiton will not be complete without this spunky and bubbly girl in the Top 5. The most beautiful face of the competition, Croatia, whose beauty mirrors that of Aishwarya Rai in our opinion, should also be includded in this elite group. Completing our Top 5 is Puerto Rico. An early fave, she was fading and almost missing on the hot-list radar throughout the competition, until she made a big comeback on the preliminary night and reminded us all why she was a fave in the first place.

Our other faves for the final are Georgia the supermodel of the year, USA the petite bellissima, and Mexico the Latin bombshell. Based on their performance, Paraguay and Netherlands should have been among the Top 16 too. The only thing that might hurt them is their status as former Miss World finalists. We are also rooting for Malaysia, a country who has never placed in 4 decades, and shockingly still ignored even after they send strong competitors lately.

The last place on the Leaderboard is a 5-way tie among 5 countries that we predict will top the fan voting this year. It is still unclear if Miss Universe will follow the same format as last year (which yielded a surprising winner of Portugal) or the Idol series format where every voter counts as one vote, regardless the origin of the voter. In the case of the second format being used this year, Thailand is the strongest possibility to win the fans love and join the elite 16 as the third Asian semifinalist this year.

So who will be crowned as Miss Universe 2012? We will find out in just a few hours! Stay tuned!

Special thanks to Fadly Ulum for the gorgeous "Happy Holidays" banner!

Miss Universe 2012 Preliminary : the Whoops .. the Whoaa ... the Damn ... and the Bam!

Watching a Miss Universe preliminary is perhaps like watching an action, comedy, romance, adventures, and horror movies all jumbled into one. You can expect a mixed of emotion from the fans as they root for their faves to give their best on this crucial point of the competition. There will definitely be some "whooops", "whooa", "damn", and "bam" comments throughout the show, praising or lamenting the best and the worst moments of the show. Hence, I choose those four words for the title of this article, where I will bring you the highlights and the most memorable moments from the holiday-themed Miss Universe 2012 preliminary competition.

Aishwarya Rai, is that you?
Miss Croatia's evening gown is one of the most beautiful gown we have ever seen in pageant. Combining  a nude lining with floral-shaped emerald green sequin, the gown is totally luxurious and en vogue. In other words, it is fabulous! What also beautiful is Miss Croatia's face, possibly the best face of the competition, whose in some angles, reminds us to the most beautiful beauty queen ever lived, Miss World 1994 Aishwarya Rai. There is this one particular magical moment during the show (see picture below) where, in my eyes, her beautiful face closely resembles the one of Aishwarya.

The en vogue gown of Miss Croatia

Aishwarya Rai, is that you?

Blame it to the water
One the highlight of evening gown competition, for all the wrong reasons, is the case of slippery stage which claims some victims on the night. First it is Miss China who almost tripped twice just when she started her walk. Then Miss Indonesia also almost slipped on the final turn of her walk. But the worst is definitely Miss Guyana's fate who fell, not so gracefully, in the middle of the catwalk (though it could be a blessing in disguise for her as her fall makes people feel sympathetic towards her and admire her elegant recovery). Apparently there were drops of water dripping down precisely on the middle of the stage itself, which should have been noticed and fixed by the production crew prior to the show. In the end, the production crew indeed finally interrupted the show to dry the floor, but perhaps it was just a little bit too late for some girls, whose chance may have just been ruined by the slippery stage.

Miss Guyana falling from grace

A fake or a sweetheart queen?
When I read a famous pageant blog awarded Miss Venezuela as People's Sweetheart, I can't help but remember her fantasia national costume. Isn't it kinda poetic that a girl who dresses as a box of sweet chocolate turns out to be the sweet girl everybody loves? Well, perhaps not everybody, as some people accuse her sweet "happy happy joy joy" persona during the competition as fake, but I believe that was her genuine personality. There was gossip that this girl is the winner of Miss Congeniality this year, and seeing her spunky and bubbly personality on the preliminary stage as well as throughout the competition, the gossip could turn out to be the truth (I know I wish that to be the truth).

Muy bella Miss Venezuela going "happy happy joy joy"

Beautiful women ... not so beautiful catwalk
Since the beginning of the competition, it was clear that most of the contestants this year don't know how to walk. Disappointing of course, since this is Miss Universe, where we expect contestants with high caliber of catwalk skills. But this time, only a few of them knows how to move on the catwalk. The rest, they just stroll there as if they are walking on the beach, enjoying the sunset. But even worse than those beach strollers is Miss Denmark, who walked off and awkwardly as if she was a laboratory-made human robot. Personally, I think her walk was the worst among all contestants this year.

 The human robot Miss Denmark

The fading and the rising stars
It is always interesting how every year, the preliminary competition could change your perception and opinion on who's hot and who's not anymore. Just like the stars across the universe, some will lose their sparks, and some will shine even more. Prior to the preliminary, I always consider Miss Czech Republic as a Top 5 candidate, but her performance on Thursday night was overall a huge disappointment. Not bad, but clearly below my expectation from her. Frankly, now I'm not even sure that she will place if not by the virtue of Trump's Card. On the other hand, Miss El Salvador, who was not in my radar before, suddenly becomes a strong possibility to enter the elite group of 16 tomorrow night. Remember Miss Guatemala 2010 Jessica Scheel who suddenly became a fave after her strong preliminary performance? Well Miss El Salvador this year could be the next one to follow the fate of Jessica.

The tale of two stars : a fading one and a rising one

Bam! The Goddess has come!
The best contestants of the night is, without a doubt, Miss South Africa. If the other contestants were stars, Miss South Africa was a supernova. She may not be as beautiful as Miss Croatia or exuding supermodel vibe as much as Miss Georgia, but she is definitely on her own league throughout the whole competition. Yes it's true that she has been a fave ever since she won her national crown, but her performance on the preliminary night solidifies her status as the top frontrunner even more. With a combination of killer catwalk, sexy body, golden blond hair, and glamor Hollywood diva vibe, she looks exactly like a Victoria's Secret angel descended on earth, ready to bring Miss Universe crown back to back to Africa continent.

The math of beauty
Victoria's Secret angel + Hollywood diva = Miss South Africa

Love it or leave it
For this last part, I will share my personal faves and disappointments from the preliminary competition. The top girls that I think kill both rounds of competition are Miss South Africa, Miss Puerto Rico, Miss Croatia, Miss Georgia, Miss Venezuela, Miss Paraguay, Miss Mexico, and Miss Philippines. I would really love to see one of those girls to be Miss Universe 2012. Also strong and hence, possible semifinalists, are Miss Malaysia, Miss El Salvador, Miss Australia, Miss Chile, Miss Japan, Miss Netherlands, Miss Guatemala, Miss New Zealand, and Miss Finland. I love Miss USA but her gown choice is horrendous as hell. Still she will likely make the Top 16 due to sash factor. Biggest disappointment of the night is Miss Czech Republic, as I discussed above. I was also disappointed to see my two sentimental faves, the bald and beautiful ebony beauties Miss Tanzania and Miss St Lucia did not stand up to their edgy exotic look. I still wish however that one of them may snatch the coveted Trump's Card and appear as semifinalist on the final.

Miss USA : the classic case of beautiful girl in horrendous gown

So that is my review for Miss Universe 2012. Stay tuned for the Final Leaderboard of Miss Universe 2012 to be published tonight!

And Miss Photogenic Universe 2012 is .... Kosovo

The first special award of Miss Universe 2012 has been announced yesterday. The Miss Photogenic award, annually given to the contestant who shines the most in front of the camera, is won by Miss Kosovo Diana Avdiu. The announcement was made during the Trump Holiday Party at Trump International Hotel, Las Vegas, with Miss Kosovo receiving her award from the reigning Miss Universe 2011 Leila Lopes.

Miss Universe 2011 Leila Lopes and Miss Kosovo 2012 Diana Avdiu during the not-so-glamorous ceremonial award of Miss Photogenic award winner

It seems that the importance and virtue of special awards start to fade in Miss Universe. In the past years, the winner of Miss Photogenic award is usually announced glamorously on stage during the final or the preliminary. But this year it takes a huge step back with the winner is announced  in a very casual off-air event with little to almost zero coverage. Don't be surprised if next year the special awards are announced after the contestants return to their home countries and the trophies sent to their home via FedEx!

Check out Miss Kosovo official pics below and shout your own mind! Do you think she deserves to win the award?
